The Opportunity:  Operations manager in Translational Research (Biology)

As a contract operations manager in Translational Research (Biology), you will report into the Director of Cancer Pharmacology in Translational Research:

  • Responsible for accurately and efficiently registering high volumes of biological samples from translational studies (non-clinical samples) into inventory management systems.

  • Accountable for sample location identification, sample check-in and check-out processes, and maintenance of up-to-date inventories.

  • Act as a central communication hub to coordinate and proactively identify and implement strategies to increase the effectiveness of biological sample management including via improved sample accessibility and operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate and support sample-related activities across CROs and identify CROs that can assist in sample management.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • BS/MS degree in relevant scientific discipline and 3+ years of experience in project coordination or management in an industry environment.

  • Highly organized, exceptional attention to detail, excellent record keeping skills, and calm under pressure.

  • Sample inventory and tracking experience, experience working with databases and generally computer savvy.

  • Good documentation practice and familiarity with writing SOPs and work instructions.

  • Rigorous, quantitative, keen to maximize efficiency.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with project and departmental teams.

  • Innovative, proactive, and collaborative team-player with high energy for our small company environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and work efficiently in a fluid environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with biological data platforms such as Benchling, database building and integration preferred.

  • Experience in handling animal models, histology and biomarker assays, as well as NGS is desirable.
