Reporting to the Manager – Pilot Process, Vision Care R&D Ocular Health Formulation Material and Process Development (FMPD) team, the R&D Scientist is primarily responsible to lead and/or support research and development activities.
•           Assist and/or lead process, laboratory, and equipment validation to support research and development of new and/or existing products.
•           Assist in the maintenance/calibration management program.Â
•           Assist pilot production of GxP samples by applying aseptic techniques and following established manufacturing procedures; assist in lab scale process transfer to pilot scale.
•           Maintain Pilot Line and R&D Laboratories GxP process at high quality and housekeeping standards.
•           Participate in clean room activities for sterile filling and environmental monitoring.
•           Qualify and maintain sterile garb certification.
•           Able to handle multiple assignments; Self-driven, capable of focusing on objectives, and strong ability for prioritization.
•           Demonstrates technically driven technical writing skills, with attention to detail.
•           Demonstrate basic problem-solving skills, working closely with senior scientists/engineers to seek solutions for complex and tough problems with can-do attitude. Be nimble and flexible, quality and timeline conscious, and support business needs.
Additionally, the role may involve the following on an as-needed basis:
•           Assist in design experiments and independently perform laboratory experiments to develop new ocular health formulation and feasible manufacturing processes for the formulation including hydrogels, solutions, emulsions, and other delivery systems as per business need.
•           Conduct routine and non-routine characterization and evaluation of formulations according to standard operating procedures.
•           Strong capability in understanding objectives and experimental design, provide critical observation, technical suggestions and implement solutions.
•           Assist transfer from lab scale to pilot scale and scale up activities.
•           Demonstrates learning agility in obtaining the understanding in chemistry, polymer solutions, formulation, structure, and property relationship of polymer solutions.
•           Under direction of manager or senior scientist lead, with limited supervision, conduct laboratory experiments providing timely scientific observation and proposing practical solutions to develop new formulation and process, conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw material, in process formulations and finished products according to standard operating procedures.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in the following with minimum 3 years’ experience; Engineering, Chemistry, or Related Science
Master’s Degree in the following with minimum 1 year experience; Engineering, Chemistry, or Related Science
