Gene Therapies is a Center of Excellence at this company developing genetic medicines for patients with rare, life-threatening diseases. Based on our innovative approach to developing genetic medicines and our industry-leading internal manufacturing capability and expertise, we have become the Center of Excellence for their newly-created Genetic Regulation Focus Area. We are currently exploring three gene therapy modalities: gene replacement, exon skipping gene therapy, and vectorized RNA knockdown, with plans to expand our focus and geographic reach. We are based in San Francisco, with manufacturing and laboratory facilities in South San Francisco and Sanford, North Carolina.

The Role

The Analytical Operations Associate will be supporting the Analytical Operations (AO) team for the execution of characterization testing, and this is a hands-on laboratory-based position located in South San Francisco. Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute characterization assays within the AO portfolio (ddPCR, ELISA, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, and others)
  • Prepare controls for assays and use statistics to determine ranges
  • Accurately report results and analyze data within current electronic lab notebook
  • Supporting AO team with their development experiments if any
  • Participate in lab management of samples and consumables
  • Accurately document assay results and analyze data
  • Additional duties as assigned

Must-Have/Required
  • Relevant Science or Engineering discipline with 1-2+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • Successful in operating independently and in a team function
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good documentation, data organization, and attention to detail

May Have/Preferred
  • Prior experience with ELISA and/or ddPCR
  • Basic understanding of statistics
  • Prior experience with JMP
  • Experience in an ALCOA+ environment
  • Prior experience with Benchling or equivalent
  • Prior AAV gene therapy vector or other viral particle production experience
