Job Description
This is what you will do:
The Associate Scientist is responsible for performing assigned experimental tasks to support the analytics needs for the company's biotherapeutic candidates. The candidate will focus on execution of analytics across multiple pipeline programs to facilitate development. This role resides within the New Capabilities/Downstream Process Development group and will be focused on both advancement of the company's manufacturing capabilities and support to pipeline projects. The Associate Scientist will work routinely in collaboration with other members of New Capabilities Process Development, Biologics Process Development, and Analytical Sciences, including all other groups in Product Development and Clinical Supply.
You will be responsible for:
- Understanding experimental goals and assisting/performing in laboratory experiments for bioprocess development, optimization, and characterization;
- Training and execution on relevant equipment and systems being utilized for analytical support to various programs;
- Execute experimental studies to optimize a process and/or develop tools critical in biologics process development;
- Organize and collaborate with cross functional teams to meet the needs and deadlines of each
- Documenting procedures, observations, and results in ELN and writing progress reports in an accurate and timely manner;
- Communicate all findings to relevant business units;
- Participating in lab material and equipment management;
You will need to have:
- Associates degree or BS in biology, chemistry, or engineering are welcome to apply
- 0-2 years experience working in relevant laboratory setting
- Coursework completed in biology, chemistry, engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in following various laboratory operating and safety procedures is required;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines;
- Ability to provide creative solutions and to perform tasks accurately and reproducibly;
- Highly organized with strong oral and written communication skills;
- Proficiency with various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required;
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an lab environment. As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
- Basic lab skills (ie: pipetting, weighing components, pH/conductivity measurements)
