Description:
Reporting to the Director, Business Analytics & Operations Management, the Associate Director, Business Analytics will be accountable for forecasting and analyzing costs of clinical trials, working closely with clinical operations and study leadership (clinical financial planning experience required). The Associate Director will lead the scenario/benchmarking of clinical studies, leveraging both internal and industry tools and data sources to model study assumptions and associated costs. This position will assist with the creation of internal data systems, analytics tools, processes, and controls to manage the benchmarking process and enhance CDO forecasting. This is a dynamic and collaborative position, interfacing & supporting R&D Finance and the cross-functional teams.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Lead the financial forecast and analysis of clinical trials, developing robust clinical trial forecasts, based on data from multiple internal and external sources.
Maintain both internal and external clinical financial and operational benchmark and forecast tools, facilitating predictive analytics in terms of cost and operational delivery of clinical studies.
Partner with clinical trial teams to develop prospective study budgets/ scenario plans.
Lead and support activities towards continuous evaluation of clinical trial deliverables and budget adherence to ensure efficient progress of trials, and accurate financial forecasts and management of study budget(s) throughout the lifecycle of the study(ies).
Liaison with R&D Finance, ensuring alignment of processes, timelines, and format of financial reporting.
Assist in the development and maintenance of data repository, used to develop trend analysis and comparative metrics.
Provide subject matter expertise to individuals and teams related to quarterly forecast, accrual reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and long-range planning.
Document and optimize business processes, utilizing technology to improve workflow, provide data clarity and increase productivity.
Assist with business operations and analytic initiatives/projects, ensuring analytical approaches implemented are built according to best practice and with eventual scaling in mind.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
BA/BS required, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a clinical research environment, with direct clinical trial financial forecasting experience.
Experience in R&D Finance, Outsourcing or Clinical Operations study management is a plus.
Direct experience in the management of benchmarking tools (i.e., Cleartrials, GrantPlan, etc.) and systems to support operational & financial aspects of clinical studies.
Experience developing and executing analytic solutions to address key business questions with measurable outcomes and insights
Track record of establishing effective business relationships with internal and external customers, demonstrating strong collaboration skills, commitment to relationship building, and a relentless focus in delivering on commitments.
Analytical reasoning abilities, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and creativity in problem-solving
VBA Programming experience
Strong skills in database design and management
