Associate Director, Corporate Finance

Finance / Corporate Finance


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and partner with the Business Development and Alliance Management team to assess the financial aspects of the company’s corporate development opportunities and initiatives
  • Assist with development and maintainance of commercial finance models including estimating rervenue opportunities for the company’s product candidates
  • Prepare and maintain deal and valuation models, deal comparables and other valuation tools and analysis to evaluate proposed partnering, licensing, collaboration structures and other strategic transactions to support internal decision making
  • Maintain competitive financial intelligence including comparable company deal and financing events, P&L benchmarking metrics and valuations and recommend appropriate adjustments to corporate strategies and tactics as necessary
  • Develop net present value (NPV) and/or return on investment (ROI) models to support, evaluate, compare and prioritize the company’s preclinical and clinical development program initiatives
  • Advise and partner with the Investor Relations team to review and anlayze analyst models to understand the external market’s assessment of the company’s strategic plans and valuation
  • Maintain the company’s enterprise and asset valuation models with up to date assumptions and inputs and apply resulting outputs and insight to other financial modelling analysis
  • Participate in the execution of high-priority corporate development and corporate finance transactions including due diligence activities
  • Use latest cash flow forecasts, analyst expectations and market conditions to advise on suitable times to raise capital and lead the planning and execution of the Finance team’s activities for financing transactions
  • Assess financial and business terms in commercial and strategic contracts/agreements as part of the company’s cross-functional business processes
  • Initiate proactive business dialogue and challenge assumptions to ensure sound financial decisions
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional senior leaders to promote collaborative decision making and to achieve company-wide financial targets and goals
  • Manage or participate in other special projects as directed by senior and executive management


Education, Experience and Required Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree plus MBA, professional accounting designation (CPA) or graduate-level degree
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a financial role with increasing scope and responsibility within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry
  • Strong modeling, forecasting and financial analysis skills, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical valuation and corporate finance
  • Strong knowledge of all phases and aspects of drug development, clinical study progression and commercialization
  • Strong business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company’s markets/products and industry trends
  • Demonstrated experience as an in-house business partner with strong executive presence including ability to communicate and influence effectively on a prepared and ad-hoc basis
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues in sharing insights and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans
  • Solid working knowledge of business process requirements and ERP and Planning system solutions for companies in the biotechnology industry
  • Team player with a ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
