Job Description

Duties
The BioBank is a group that maintains a clear vision of building a cost-effective, scalable program focused on meeting the human biospecimen needs of Research and Development activities strategically aligned to enhance diagnostic, preventative and therapeutic efforts.
The team operates with the mission to deliver a diverse, well-characterized high-quality human biospecimen, cell cultures, and genetic sample. BioBank maintains a data repository with appropriate human subject protection and industry best practices. We require a variety of biological materials, primarily of human origin, banked or prospectively collected from geographically diverse populations, and coordinate panel builds tailored to specifications defined by projects in close collaboration with functional area experts and qualified commercial and non-commercial sources and suppliers.
Biospecimens are characterized to fit the purpose, processed, distributed, and/or stored in the biorepositories until final disposition.

Key Responsibilities supporting Archiving, Retrieval and Destruction of Biospecimen Inventory:
1. Oversee sample quality for all specimen related to closed studies and projects including storage condition, expiry dates and logistics with partnered vendor for Biospecimen Inventory
2. Conduct necessary sample location and consent investigation for requests related to closed studies. Navigate tracking technology for documenting investigations. Work collaboratively with technology vendor for query resolutions and escalations.
3. Electronically manage biospecimen retrievals including receipt, tracking and review and approval of requests from internal reqestors; Confirm requests against the informed consent, escalate requests as required
4. Electronically retrieve/Archive biospecimens in a manner that safeguards quality and integrity of the biospecimen and the subject data (in association with the ICF) and ensure that a biospecimen manifest is completed to document the biospecimen transport or receipt
5. Lead the resolution of all escalated issue and queries relating to biospecimens within our inventory
6. Maintain records for biospecimens stored until it meets final disposal and follow destruction process when initiated.

Skills
1. Successfully mediate conflict, develop rapport with decision makers, and solve problems in a big-picture and stakeholder-supported way
2. Foster mutually beneficial working relationships and skillfully leverage recognition of team values and goals for motivation
3. Motivate and empower teams, inspire, gain buy-in, and adjusting style to the needs and maturity level of the team
4. Knowledge of Biobank best practices
5. Deep familiarity with potential for vendor "push back" on escalated issues and an aptitude for resolving these issues effectively and efficiently
6. Understanding of the regulatory environment, relevant changes, and their impact on study design, execution, and biospecimen-related processes

Education
BA/BS in life sciences or related degree
5 years relevant experience working in the pharmaceutical industry (including CROs, labs and/or biorepositories)
1-3 years of relevant technical experience working with biospecimen management, lab management, biobanking, and/or similar organizations 

Pay Range:  50-55/hr
Salary will be commensurate with experience
