Job Description:

The Gene Therapy group is seeking to hire a temporary Research Associate to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have broad technical experience in molecular biology and nucleic acid purification process development.  

Duration of Assignment:  This temporary position is anticipated to last up to 3 months but could go longer.

Work Schedule:
  • Workdays:  Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday
  • Days off:  Thursday, Friday

Hours: 9a to 5p

Responsibilities:
  • Independently perform downstream purification of DNA gene therapy vectors at large scale.
  • Perform analytical assays to evaluate the quality of purified DNA.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate experimental outcomes to internal teams and senior management.
  • Present information and data in both written and verbal form.
  • Documents experimental and process data.
  • Ability to work during the weekend working schedule.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences (e.g. Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field) with 1-3 years of relevant postgraduate research experience.
  • Expertise in low and large-scale DNA production technologies.
  • Familiarity with routine in-process analytics to support process development (e.g., DNA concentration, DNA purity, endotoxin).
  • Strong ability in execution and driving for results independently.
  • Familiarity with ELN platforms ideally with Benchling.
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills
