Title:  Controller
We are a multi-national, clinical stage biotechnology company with headquarters in Austin, TX and laboratory facilities in Hamilton, Ontario and South San Francisco, California. We are a fast-paced, innovative, forward-thinking, and highly collaborative culture of scientists, technologists, R&D and other professionals that focus on therapies for small tumors including breast, gastric, ovarian, pancreatic, gall bladder and lung cancer.
We are seeking an experienced and talented Controller. This position will be an instrumental contributor to enhancing the accounting and process needs for our growing organization.  Reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Finance, this newly created role will be leading a growing accounting team and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounting operations for the company, including but not limited to managing all aspects of financial accounting, technical accounting, SOX compliance, internal/external audit, and external stakeholder financial reporting.  Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA without visa sponsorship.


JOB DUTIES
• Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting and finance functions, which includes but is not limited to, procure-to-pay, treasury, payroll, equity, fixed assets, and financial statement close processes
• Coordinate and supervise the year-end audit, including the internal and external audit functions, and quarterly reviews as applicable
• Oversee and manage the tax function and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws
• Facilitate/manage the completion of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close process in compliance with established reporting deadlines
• Analyze the balance sheet and income statement to identify accounting and/or reporting issues that may not be in accordance with US GAAP or SEC rules and regulations REV-JD2021-TEMPLATE
• Lead the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements and filings in accordance with US GAAP
• Develop sustainable, scalable accounting and financial platforms in addition to implementing process improvements and establishing internal controls
• Cash management and forecasting including foreign transactions and banking relationships
• Contribute to the improvements of NetSuite to integrate accounting and business transactions
• Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and communicate with leadership regarding recommendations for potential process improvements
• Monitor and review processes and reports to ensure accuracy of the financial statements and compliance with SOX controls
• Create new and maintain existing financial policies, controls, and procedures to support growth and compliance
• Coordinate and supervise all audit events, including internal and external audit functions.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA required, and MBA preferred
• Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in senior level accounting or finance role
• SEC / SOX experience required
• IPO experience highly desirable
• Big 4 or national accounting and private industry experience preferred

WORK-RELATED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 10 years of diverse accounting experience with a mix of public accounting and public or private company experience.
• Prior experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable
• Must have experience in technical accounting areas such as consolidations, revenue recognition, foreign currency, stock options, and regulatory filings and reporting.
• In depth knowledge and utilization of NetSuite.
• Willingness to roll up sleeves
• Exceptional financial software system skills
