Job Description
40-70/h depending on years of experience
Top 3 technical skills that are required for the role:
1. Manufacturing equipment design
2. SolidWorks proficiency
3. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Years’ Experience Required: 3-20
- Established and productive machine designer.
- Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects / assignments
- Sets objectives for own job area to meet the objectives of projects and assignments
- Contributes to the completion of project milestones
- May have some involvement in cross functional assignments
- Makes or recommends enhancements in machines and processes to solve equipment problems or improve effectiveness of the machines
- Communicates primarily and frequently with internal contacts
- External interactions are less complex or problem solving in nature
- Contacts others to share information, status, needs and issues to inform, gain input, and support decision-making
- May provide guidance and assistance to entry level design engineers, validation engineers, and process engineers.
- Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within CAD, documentation, tolerancing, pneumatics, mechanisms, and powered actuators.
Day in the Life:
- Design assembly and test equipment using CAD software (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
- Define design requirements and conduct design reviews
- Prototype and test designs throughout the development process
- Support product design engineers with prototype builds
- Participate in manufacturing planning and analysis activities
- Partner with outside suppliers to develop production equipment
- Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities
Must Have:
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ Years machine design experience
- 3+ Years CAD?software experience (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
- Automation design experience
