Job Description
- Ability to read and understand schematics, instructions, and drawings.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the use of electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, data loggers, thermocouples, automated test equipment, etc. as well as microscopes, soldering irons, tweezers, crimpers, cutters and other hand tools.
- Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with immediate supervisor, other professional in the department.
- Associate Degree
- Basic Troubleshooting, pneumatic and electrical schematics interpretation, good documentation skills
- Certification in IPC
- • Medical device product development, regulatory process, safety, e.g., IEC 60601
- • Previous experience with robotics
A Day in the Life
As an Electronics Technician I working on the Surgical Robotics program (R&D RPE – Released Product Engineering), you will be part of a team that supports the production electronic hardware for the capital and instrumentation equipment within the robotic system. You will work with other team in development, testing, integration, verification, validation, and production transfer of sophisticated electronic systems.
As an Electronics Technician you will perform the following:
- Conducts prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting in support of Released Project Management (RPM) activities.
- Conducts the setting up and operating of test equipment, documenting results, analyzing systems, processes, product or equipment per detailed procedures.
- Gathers and maintains data, drawings, and repairs or services instruments and equipment.Â
- Works under close supervision and within defined parameters to provide technical support.
As an Electronics Technician I, you will:
- Develop Proficiency in the following areas:
- Mechanical assembly
- Assembly of wiring harnesses
- Lead-free soldering of through hole and surface mount components on printed circuit boards
- Prototype Builds
- Support Engineering staff in system integration and performing new and ongoing testing.
- Assists with root cause analysis, including data analysis (mining), identifying trends (systemic issues), and common cause issues for systems, peripherals, software and components of low to moderate complexity.
- Provides technical troubleshooting skills to identify and propose solutions which support business objectives.
- Recognizes common and generally routine problems of low complexity when they occur.
- Sets up, maintains, repairs, calibrates and adjusts simple formulations, units and/or test equipment as directed.
- Responsible for following inspection procedures and operating automated test equipment.
- Maintain lab stock of electronic and mechanical components as well as lab supplies.
- Assists in repairing/refurbishing prototypes during testing.
- Assists with building test equipment, test stands and fixtures as needed.
- Responsible for performing and documenting work per Quality Systems Regulations policies and procedures.
- Performs specific tasks to generate data in a lab or product development setting.
- Follows specific, detailed instructions and established procedures.
- Problem solving is guided by well-established policies and procedures and or precedent.
- Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other professionals in the department.
- Provides technical support to other department staff members.
- Ensures the maintenance of and adherence to good laboratory practices and all safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
- Continue to develop skills through additional training and educational programs
Must Haves
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a specialized or technical field.
- Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with immediate supervisor, other professional in the department.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, instructions, and drawings.

- Previous experience with robotics
- IPC Certifications: IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711
- Knowledge of and experience with disassembly and reassembly of systems and test benches
- Knowledge and understanding of Quality System Regulations
- Experience with Linux and Windows
