The Director, Scientific Communications Digital Strategy Lead will work closely with all Medical Affairs functions and regions, Marketing, Business Information Systems, Commercial Operations, and all other cross functional stakeholders to provide strategy and project management for digital health initiatives and projects to advance precision and personalized medicine. 

 

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:  
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Medical Affairs digital strategy, plan and activities within all therapeutic areas, aligning across function and region
  • Provide strategic direction on the development and execution of digital health solutions partnering both with internal and external stakeholders to develop high quality scientific content and digital platforms that drive omnichannel scientific engagement with HCPs
  • Continually identify novel opportunities for impactful HCP engagement that can be enhanced through digital tools, platforms and delivery
  • Lead the development of medical affairs healthcare stakeholder digital engagement initiatives working in collaboration with cross-functional partners, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure digital health tools, platform and delivery are integrated into the overall digital ecosystem
  • Liaise with regional medical affairs teams to ensure digital health initiatives and platforms are migrated and harmonized worldwide where appropriate
  • Collaborate with Head of Medical Affairs, Head of Shared Services, Head of Scientific Communications, Medical Operations, Business Information Services, NPP Marketing and Finance and other internal stakeholders to develop annual budget to support all planned digital health initiatives, projects and platforms
  • Responsible for Medical Affairs Digital Health program with accountability for all digital health initiatives through initial assessment, implementation, training and communication
  • Liaise with Legal, Compliance and Regulatory colleagues to ensure new and existing digital health initiatives have their alignment and approval where applicable

 

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Extensive experience in leading the planning and execution of digital strategy focused on optimizing health care provider engagement and education
  • Ability to understand, critically analyze, and summarize complex scientific and medical data into impactful deliverables across digital channels
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, matrix, team-oriented structure
  • Prior experience as a project owner in effectively navigating MLR review within a biopharma organization
  • Able to effectively network and partner with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate/promote cross-functional collaboration
  • Detailed understanding of industry regulations and practices relating to Medical Affairs
  • Extensive experience working on digital projects involving IT infrastructure including Business Information Systems and external vendors

 

Education and Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in related Life Sciences discipline or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
  • 5+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience leading the development and execution of scientific communications projects including scientific publications and industry symposia
  • Scientific content and project development experience in neurology, immunology or rare disease across a variety of digital platforms, channels and venues (e.g. digital portals, webinars, medical field tools)
  • Successful record of creating and managing complex digital project plans, timelines, budgets and critical paths
  • Ability to travel 15% domestically and internationally
