Function: BIS Infrastructure Engineer     
  1. PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION
This role will report to the Lead BIS Operations & Support - Global and will have a special focus on the infrastructure needs across multiple projects and technology cloud based platforms. The role will work in partnership with the Lead BIS Operations and Support – Global to ensure  efficient collaboration between internal teams and all service delivery partners (Infrastructure, Service Desk, MSP’s, field support, etc...), it will also ensure global adherence to global BIS Infrastructure and Security initiatives while working with their various BIS vertical leads.

  1. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with Lead BIS Operations and Support – Global to develop support strategies and then implements solutions with best-in-class partners.
  • Ensures the team understands and complies with quality standards and regulatory requirements as per the global documented processes.
  • Evaluates performance of infrastructure environments to recommend changes to processor, memory, storage, workflows, operating systems, security products, patching, and licensing.
  •  Recommends changes as it relates to the global infrastructure environment to any hosted or proposed projects.
  •  In partnership with our managed service provider, develops and maintains infrastructure documentation and knowledge base articles related to frequently asked questions and common incidents.
  • Ensures completion of IT infrastructure project requests by original completion date as determined and assigned during project planning or established service level agreements (SLAs).
  •  Provides daily support guidance in the areas of infrastructure managed by our managed service providers.
  • Technical Documentation:
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including system diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and outcomes.
  • Provide clear documentation for end-users and support teams to ensure proper system usage and troubleshooting.
  • Educate and train staff on information security best practices:
  • Conduct regular security awareness training sessions for employees.
  • Provide guidance on secure practices related to data handling, access control, and incident reporting.
  • Develop, execute, and track security measures:
  • Implement and monitor security protocols to protect information, network infrastructure, and computer systems.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of security measures and adjust as needed.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to security incidents, response times, and system vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with Business Partners:
  • Work closely with business leads and product owners to understand solution requirements.
  • Identify and apply architectural patterns that align with business needs.
  • Ensure Cloud Security and Privacy:
  • Monitor the company’s cloud privacy in collaboration with BIS security.
  • Address technical issues promptly and professionally.
  • Hands-on role, responsible for the support and implementation of Azure and AWS cloud services including infrastructure, machine learning and artificial intelligence platform services.
  • Responsible for supporting cloud strategies at scale leveraging Python, Golang and Terraform tooling, promoting infrastructure as code to accelerate our cloud program.
  • Build cloud-native services to support application teams and contribute to the development of cloud infrastructure automation.
  • Support application teams in leveraging cloud based artificial intelligence platforms and services, enhancing internal customer experiences.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the team to reference and share with our internal customers
    1. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
    • Understanding of the industry landscape and global regulatory requirements (e.g. GxP, HIPAA. GDPR, etc.).
    • Proven work experience as a Cloud Architect or similar role
    • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work
    • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends
    • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners
    • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Cloud Architect
    • Experience with RESTful APIs and scripting.
    • Demonstrated experience in Infrastructure as Code best practices and experience with building modules for AWS cloud.
    • Demonstrated experience in supporting AWS organizations and policy guardrails operations (SCP, AWS Config).
    • Experience in either Python or Golang coding languages.
    • Experience deploying production applications into cloud environments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    1. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum of 8-10 years working either in a biopharmaceutical company or a consulting organization with focus on the life sciences sector.
    • Minimum 10 years working in a Infrastructure Support-oriented role coordinating multiple organizations and service-delivery partners.
    • Experience in the implementation of multi-partner support solutions to address the specific needs of life-sciences remote users.
    • Experience with state-of-the-art remote hardware provisioning and configuration.
    • Experience with Okta IAM platform and administration.
