Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The current role is for a Laboratory Technician to join our team and advance our platform. The candidate should have a passion for working collaboratively in a team environment to enable building the necessary tools for meeting the new frontier of CRISPR-based genetic medicine. Additionally, the candidate would bring a drive to learn new tasks and protocols necessary for a research lab to function. The Laboratory Technician will be a vital part of the team, maintaining the laboratory space and assisting the Scientists, Engineers and Research Associates. The candidate will have numerous opportunities for professional growth in a rapidly growing biotechnology start-up, which includes growing into a leadership role of increasing responsibilities and the ability to publish highly impactful work in peer reviewed journals.
Key Responsibilities:
? Effectively collaborate with members within a fully integrated team to facilitate execution on projects within established timelines
? Foster a driven, fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment in which to do rigorous science
? Manage laboratory equipment and supplies for the Laboratories
? Maintain clean glassware and prepare sterile solutions for use in routine experiments
? Maintain the chemical inventory in accordance with the company policy
? Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations relative to assigned work
? Prepare standard chemical solutions, reagents, and media
? Keep laboratory facilities in a clean, orderly and well stocked condition
? Compile and record data onto worksheets or into lab notebooks; enter reviewed data and results into the laboratory information management system.
? Assist Engineers, Associates and Scientists on projects, as needed
? Work independently, or in project settings with teammates, depending on the nature of the project
? Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
Required Skills and Background:
? High School diploma required. AS or BS degree in science or related field preferred
? Positive, professional attitude with a passion for science
? Ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to work standing, to lift, and to bend to restock supplies
? Proven ability to follow oral, written and graphic instructions; learn to perform routine laboratory work; learn to set up, adjust, clean, and perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment; work with or without minimal available supervision.
? Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team
? Excellent communication, including written and oral
? Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
? Responsive problem solver and action oriented
? Resourceful, independent, eager to learn, and team-oriented, with meticulous attention to detail
Preferred Skills and Background:
? General knowledge of laboratory terminology, equipment, and procedures
? Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches
? Familiarity with protein or RNA structure and engineering approaches
--18.00-20.00 per hour pay rate
