Background:
This role is an individual contributor within the Peripheral Vascular Health operating unit, which employs the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients across the globe.  We focus on transforming global vascular disease management.
Main Purpose:
Assist engineers in setting up and conducting R&T development experiments and tests.  Collect, prepare and characterize specimens.
Position Description:
This position supports the development of various new products and therapies for medical device application.  The majority of time will be spent in laboratory preparing and testing materials.  This position works under supervision of more experienced engineers and follows established procedures.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Characterization of materials and components using established testing methods
  • Development and optimization of chemical processes and associated test methods under the direction of engineers and scientists
  • Preparation of solutions, using standard laboratory equipment and techniques to handle solutions
  • Perform routine measurements and perform routine equipment calibrations as required
  • Set-up and operate testing equipment including data acquisition software
  • Collect and prepare samples for analysis; perform sample analyses using established procedures
  • Document findings and present to supervisor or other team members for review
Required Qualifications & Experiences
  • BA/BS in Chemistry, BioChemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in R&D within medical device or pharmaceutical industries
  • Experience with new product development
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and lead projects
Nice to Have Qualifications & Experiences
  • Experience with biological assays and methods (e.g., ELISA assays, standard 96-well plate assays)
  • Expertise in analytical test method development and validation: HPLC and GC
  • Expertise with analytical instrumentation: HPLC-DAD, GPC, GC-FID/MS, Karl Fischer, FT-IR, UV-Vis, and Rheology
  • Experience in moderate and complex data analyses using statistical techniques
  • Experience with equipment troubleshooting
  • Experience of using chromatography software: Empower and MassHunter
