Target PR Range: 19-26/hr

Summary: In this role, the technician will support the current beating heart systems, which will serve to evaluate the design and performance characteristics of devices as well as physician trainings for various projects. The technician also will be responsible for other laboratory activities.
Job Responsibilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Advanced Technology business unit as a technician contractor on a dedicated team focused on the clinical success and user experience of the structural heart devices. In this role, the technician will support the current beating heart systems, which will serve to evaluate the design and performance characteristics of devices as well as physician trainings for various projects. The technician also will be responsible for other laboratory activities.
- Support R&D, clinical and training teams at with their beating heart system needs, by providing animal or human cadaver fixed hearts and other beating heart equipment.
- Order, and maintain the inventory for the animal and human cadaver heart programs.
- Process and fix animal and/or human cadaver hearts to be used in beating heart systems.
- Pack and ship equipment, animal and human cadaver hearts globally to be used for training or development of products.
- Maintain documentation for orders and shipments.
- Work closely with project team members, and internal partners to deliver project objectives.
- Operate a wider range of lab equipment including set-up, clean-up, break-down, and re-assembly.
- Perform operational tests and identify failure modes on systems and equipment; may propose technical solutions.
- Experience with handling animal or human cadaver tissue is preferred.
- Self-motivated, self-starter and take direction as needed.
- Detail oriented with good communication and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated task ownership and accountability for task results.
- Must be a team player and be able to work and get direction from project team members.
- Be able to carry objects up to 30 pounds and stand for periods of time.
- Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.
Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
- Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time.
- Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
- Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred.
- 0-2 years experience required.
