Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and execute test plans, protocols, reports, and test procedures. Conduct technical assessment for Design Inputs (DI) resulting in attribute and variable verification strategies to satisfy the DI’s.
- Ownership of Design Verification (DV) from start to finish while getting support from the cross functional team.
- This position will coordinate with R&D colleagues, PMO, Quality, and Manufacturing to assess device functional performance through different Prototype Phases.
- Collaborate with the other disciplines of engineering, and new product development group in designing/building test fixtures and test methods needed for system verification activities. Generate specifications, test plans and test reports for fixture validation purposes and release the same in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
- Contributes towards creation of functional requirements and expectations during design, development, and verification phases.
- Conduct experiments to characterize device performance and system responses including developing test method and measurement system qualifications, fixture design, and testing optimization.
- Integration work to include Software and Hardware sub systems Integration and to perform Design evaluation to System and Sub-system requirements, including Safety Standards.
- Identify, report, track, and document product defects found as part of design evaluation and verification activities. Participate in identifying the root cause of the defects and offer strategic advice in resolving the
- Represent the test group on all mechanical related testing decisions, acting as the team’s representative in cross- functional meetings. Provide inputs for testability, execution of verification protocols, design reviews while adhering to established
- Assist usability team in documenting requirements including user stories with acceptance criteria and testing flow diagrams.
- Adhere to internal quality processes and procedures, produce quality artifacts such as Characterization test reports, verification and validation plans, test reports and other necessary documentation satisfying regulatory
- Develop and utilize new tools to assist in test automation efforts throughout the product development and maintenance processes.
- Understand Validation procedures and provide required fixture validation documentation per site procedures.
- Work within established product development standards and methodologies, responsible for delivering a working prototype at the end of a Test
SKILLS Needed:
- Ability to read and understand System and Subsystem requirement specifications, detailed design documents.
- Ability to draft characterization & design verification test plans, protocols, and reports, while documenting/releasing records in the PLM system.
- Ability to work with R&D SME to review requirements testability and plan/create/execute test methods that verify those testable requirements.
- Train & lead multiple test technicians on how to execute protocols and test methods.
- Experience with operating diagnostic and measurement instruments for purposes of test. This may include but not limited to O-Scopes, FG’s, Flow Meters, MTS, Force meters, etc.
- Experience with Statistical analysis (preferably with Minitab).
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work and communicate effectively with other engineers, designers, marketers, and suppliers to develop products from concept through commercialization in a cross-functional
- Skilled in the use of Office Products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, )
- Effective oral, written communication and presentation skills. Exercises good judgment when communicating to all levels in the business
SKILLS Preferred:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of CAD experience preferred (experience with CREO a plus)
- Experience in rapid prototyping using 3D printers and other machinery preferred.
- Experience with automated testing environments, i.e. LabVIEW
- Effectively work in a QA controlled documentation environment that contributes to Design History Files
- Experience with failure analysis, troubleshooting, and the identification/debugging of hardware defects.
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis
- Demonstrate excellent understanding of medical device product development stages including risk management methodologies/analysis.
