Purpose & Scope:

The Patient Centricity Patient Insights & Solutions (PInS) Fellow will report to aDirector (or above) in Patient Centricity PInS team and will be assigned to work with a PInS team member(s) on planning and execution of PInS projects(s)/initiative(s) with Medical and Development, Commercial, Regulatory, Rx+, DigitalX, and other departments. Fellow will be responsible for execution of projects and interactions with internal and external stakeholders as relevant to the projects. Fellow will use technical, medical, and scientific expertise gained from patient-centric approaches and other pharmaceutical industry training/experience to meet objectives. Toward that end, this role will require some knowledge of multiple areas of patient care and access to care including the ability to research and provide insights into areas such as epidemiology, patient journey, gathering of the patient perspective, digital health, Real-World Evidence (RWE) and others. The PInS group focuses on patient driven solutions based on the real-world conditions of patients with a particular emphasis on behavioral science, digital/technology use, and utilization of Real-World Evidence (RWE). This role will support PInS projects conducted with/for internal customers across the global enterprise.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Fellows responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Gather patient and caregiver insights using primary and secondary research methods for PInS projects
  • Develop a deep understanding of patients, care partners, and other healthcare stakeholders perspective to support business needs
  • Collaborate with Rx+/Digital Health teams to utilize new technologies/wearables to better understand the context in which our patients live in the real-world environment
  • Work closely with Behavioral Science Consortium (BSC) to integrate behavioral aspects of care from a patient and practitioner standpoint
  • Collaborate closely with other Patient Centricity teams to align appropriate patient input for projects being evaluated
  • Support aligning protocols and measured outcomes with patient expectations

Quantitative Dimensions:

Incumbent will interact with a wide range of departments and position levels, including but not limited to global staff in Medical and Development, Global/Regional Brand Team, Rx+, DigitalX, Market Access, and others. Position has direct impact on the companys ability to meet goals creating and delivering value to patients and their caregiver, ensuring delivery on VALUE and Corporate Strategic Plan. Position challenges incumbent to manage multiple project goals and timelines. Incumbent must be able to work independently on PInS project(s) under minimal direction from a manager. Incumbent should be able to apply scientific/medical knowledge as well as the appropriate research methods to assigned projects, and use working knowledge of relevant guidelines to assist in the success of projects and programs.

Organizational Context:
  • Position reports to a Director or above in the Patient Insights and Solutions (PInS) group within Patient Centricity Division
  • Entry level into the Patient Centricity and/or Medical Affairs

Qualifications:
  • Identify the levels of knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and certifications required for the position.

Required
  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes or similar; PharmD.; or other advanced science degree. MBA beneficial;
  • Typically 0-1 years previous industry related experience
  • Ability to apply scientific research methods and/or business knowledge to assigned projects
  • Understands compliance concepts as they relate to performing immediate job functions
  • Effective medical writing skills and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to understand healthcare environment and apply this knowledge to perform job function
  • Completed coursework in Research Methods, Epidemiology, Health Policy and/or Health Care Systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools: PowerPoint, Excel, Word

Preferred

PharmD or PhD in health sciences discipline
