Principal Scientist, Bioconjugation
Salary - 165k-190k

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare conjugated proteins on various scales (mg to g) using classical and modern bioconjugation techniques
• Purify and characterize complex bioconjugate therapeutics and when appropriate, develop new synthetic and analytical methods and protocols
• Make immediate contribution at the bench by independently analyzing results and troubleshooting experiments
• Be a key intellectual contributor assessing and evaluating new conjugation techniques for Bolt’s technology platform
• Collaborate with chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to interpret in vitro and in vivo assay results and propose means to advance programs and Bolt’s technology platform
• Ability to critically evaluate, summarize, and interpret data, in addition to effectively communicating scientific concepts, findings, and interpretations at group, project team and departmental research meetings
• Contribute to the writing of technical documents, patents, scientific manuscripts, etc.
• Understand published scientific and patent literature outside of their immediate area of expertise and apply this understanding to drive innovation

Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry or closely related field with 8+ years of direct experience in bioconjugation; or MS/MA or BS/BA with commensurate experience
• Extensive experience with bioconjugate therapies or targeted drug delivery modalities
• Hands on experience optimizing conjugation conditions for DAR, recovery, and stability
• Hands on experience purifying conjugates at various scales (mg to g)
• Extensive analytical experience characterizing bioconjugates
• Strong understanding of modern bioconjugation techniques and organic chemistry
• Experience with scale-up manufacturing supporting early development research a plus
• Project Team Leadership experience a plus
• Requires working in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals. Protective clothing, gloves, and safety glasses are required while working in the lab
• Ability to lift containers or instruments (up to 25 pounds) and work standing at a fume hood or lab bench for extended periods
