JOB DESCRIPTION
The Reliability Engineer is part of the Strategic Engineering team whose goal is to ensure that consumables manufacturing systems in San Diego CA are operated and maintained at a world class level throughout their lifecycle. They support equipment engineers and day-to-day operations of the equipment through the provision of expertise and services in a fast pace regulated environment. They will work in a dynamic team-oriented environment that supports multiple operations and technologies helping Illumina deliver its highly complex product pipeline in a reliable and sustainable manner.
Responsibilities:
Lead facilitate and execute Reliability Centered Maintenance RCM and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis FMEA including system modelling failure data collection and cleansing statistical analysis of failures and recommendations for improvements of operation and maintenance processes
Lead reliability availability maintainability RAM studies and derive availability targets from demand scenarios recommend the most adequate maintenance strategy to meet said targets
Support troubleshooting of recurrent technical issues experience in leading and executing Root Cause Analysis work sessions
Engage technically with vendors contractors and service providers to define scope of intervention and establish service contracts.
Develop and conduct engineering reliability centered training and training materials
Generate or maintain standard operating procedures/work instructions directly or indirectly linked to equipment reliability PM procedures Task Lists Work Management Processes Spare Parts Management Document Control Planning and Scheduling Maintenance Strategiesa
Promote continuous improvement activities and cost saving strategies to improve equipment availability reliability and operational stability
Lead continuous improvement initiatives through project definition and planning including formulation of timelines resource allocation identification of risks etc...
Monitors projects execution from start to completion including planning progress and spending
Spearhead improvements to current work processes and identify processes that are not documented
Establish develop and maintain strong positive working relationships with stakeholders cross-functional team members and internal customers.
Role model in a team environment to improve equipment reliability and uptime. Mentors supporting engineers and technicians.
Be available and willing to spend time on the manufacturing floor during maintenance and troubleshooting activities
While performing the duties of this job is regularly required to stand sit walk climb stairs/ladders kneel crouch or wear safety gear. Must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Education/Background:
Min Degree: BA
Must haves:
Preferred 3+ years of relative experience:
-FMEA or RCM
-Ability to read engineering documentation
-Field exposure (ex. maintenance & repairs, mechanical/electrical/controls or automation)
Min years of exp: 2
Target pay: $38.25 - 47.75
