Job Summary
The Gene Therapy group is seeking to hire an entry-level Research Associate to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have knowledge of immunohistochemistry, RNAscope and BaseScope assays, and familiarity with microscopy and imaging. In this position, you will play an integral role in characterizing the expression of transgenic constructs in mouse and NHP tissues. You will perform staining and imaging for detection of transgene and cell marker expression. This role will require a flexible work schedule including working on weekends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences (e.g. Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience or related field) with 1-2 years of relevant postgraduate research experience in an industry setting.
- Creativity and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team to achieve technical and corporate milestones.
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible schedule including working on weekends.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Technical Requirements and Skills:
- Knowledge of chromogenic and fluorescence RNAscope and/or BaseScope staining.
- Familiarity with imaging chromogenic slides as well as fluorescence multiplex slides.
- Experience working with multiple tissue preparations (FFPE, fixed-frozen, fresh-frozen, etc.) and multiple tissue types (mouse and NHP).
- Ideal candidate will have familiarity with ELNs (i.e. Benchling), immunohistochemistry (IHC, antibody staining), ddPCR, qPCR, Olink-based proteomics, MSD, protein isolation, Western blot.
- Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
