MOMA Title: Research Associate III; Fermentation
Project Overview:
Pay rate range: $45-60/hr
We are a team of computational and experimental scientists dedicated to making a moonshot in the life sciences. We’re looking for a research associate with a background in cell/molecular biology for a 1 year contract position. Overall Responsibilities:
This hire will be expected to work with a multidisciplinary team to execute our fermentation workflows in support of team milestones.
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Working closely with a multidisciplinary team to execute our in-house fermentation workflows including
Culturing of microorganisms at small scale in shake flasks and in bioreactors
Preparing media and bioreactors, setting up control strategies for the reactors, and sampling and monitoring of the reactors over the course of the run.
Troubleshooting technical difficulties with the bioreactors as they happen.
Analyze and QC data from inline and offline measurements.
Document protocols, results and data using an electronic lab notebook.
Present the results of the experiments to small and large teams.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
BS/MS in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or similar.
5-7 years or more of relevant industry (preferred) or academic research.
Demonstrated experience with running benchtop scale (500mL-5L) bioreactors
Demonstrated experience with aseptic technique.
Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:
Experience with developing fed-batch protocols for microbial fermentations.
Familiarity with analytical and computational methods for analyzing fermentation data
