Duties:

The Membrane Protein Group in the Department of Structural Biology has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated researcher with expertise in membrane protein biochemistry. The successful candidate will purify membrane proteins from E coli, Insect, or Mammalian cell expressions and characterize protein quality using various biophysical and biochemical methods. In addition, the candidate will be expected to perform mammalian cell culture work and optimize protocols for protein expression as well as for automation of protein purification.

Skills:
  • Working knowledge of protein expression systems such as mammalian, insect, E coli with a focus on membrane proteins. Hands-on experience in membrane protein purification Knowledgeable with diverse chromatography techniques and AKTA chromatography systems
  • Basic mammalian cell culture (in particular suspension HEK293) experience.
  • Proficiency with methods to characterize protein quality and purity, such as FSEC, DSF/thermal shift, DLS, etc.
  • Expertise with biophysical and biochemical protein-protein interaction techniques and/or functional assays.
  • Experience with basic lab automation.
  • Passion for exploring and developing new technologies. Self-motivated, hard-working, dynamic and curious person with good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative.

Education:
  • The successful candidate must have either a BS/MS degree with ~6-10 years of experience or a PhD with 0-4 years of experience in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology or a related discipline. 



Target Pay Rate Range: $60-70/hr. Salary will be commensurate with experience
