Research Investigator: Ion Channel Pharmacology

Job Description
This is a full-time contract position located in Pittsburgh, PA reporting to the Associate Director of ion channel pharmacology. Salary and title will be commensurate with level of experience.
Qualifications:
- Skilled in manual patch-clamp electrophysiology, automated patch-clamp electrophysiology (APC) or multielectrode array (MEA) techniques.
- Solid background in mammalian cell culture, neuronal cultures, tissue harvesting and dissection of various brain regions.
- PhD degree Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline with relevant working experience in academia/biotech/pharma, and a strong publication record.
- Conduct tissue culture, including recombinant cell lines, primary neurons, and iPSC-neurons.
- Design and implement whole-cell patch-clamp, APC or MEA assays for pharmacological characterization of small molecules.
- Analyze, summarize, interpret, and present research findings in both internal and external meetings/conferences.
- Integrate and engage with a cross-disciplinary team of biologists, chemists and biochemists.
- Basic lab responsibilities include following SOPs, careful record keeping, following lab safety regulations and participation in team meetings.
- Excellent listening, speaking, and writing skills.
