Job Description
Pay rate: $18/hr
Breeds, raises and cares for small research animals on behalf of, or for sale to, customers. Follows proper breeding and animal care procedures. Monitors animal behavior and physical attributes to ensure animal health and confirm appropriate phenotype; reports any findings. Ensures biosecurity. Coordinates with Customer Service on scheduling and order status.
Notes:
Working with mice and rats
Must feel comfortable picking up animals
Cleaning cages, replenishing food
Monitoring the animal’s health
Physical job/on feet/climbing stairs to work on upper levels/repetitive motion
Able to navigate on a tablet computers
Attention to detail required
Strict Animal Welfare compliance – the health and treatment of our animals is paramount
Needs to be focused, punctual and engaged
Very fast paced job
High school diploma or GED required
Will need to perform euthanasia
Will wear a respirator for short amounts of time when using chemicals to sterilize
Background: previous work with animals preferred, but not required
Can’t have any type of rodents for pets. Also, cannot own a pet that is fed rodents (dead or alive) due to biosecurity issues
