Job Description:


Protein Sciences - Boston of client Research Laboratories (MRL) is seeking a contractor to execute existing laboratory automation workflows on our high-throughput antibody and protein production platforms.
Specifically, to perform weekly expression runs for hundreds of antibodies to support early discovery efforts.
In this role you will build and then use a combination of protein expression, purification, and laboratory automation skills.
This role will require an eagerness to learn and an ability to work with different teams and different equipment to operate a robust high throughput protein production platform.
Your efforts will be a complement and core resource to existing capabilities and will serve to expand the teams ability to interrogate antibody/protein diversity in order to identify optimal leads.
You will have the opportunity to apply your enthusiasm and technical skills as a member of Discovery Biologics - Boston to support and help drive multidisciplinary biotherapeutic discovery programs.

Responsibilities:
• Operate and maintain existing liquid handling platforms including Lynx, Hamilton and Tecan to drive our small-scale automated protein production platforms.
• Troubleshoot automation methods and devices to maintain optimal high throughput protein production (yield, reproducibility, reliability, etc.).
• Generate frequent production summary reports.
• Follow and improve Standard Operating Procedures for expression and purification workflows.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications, experience and skills: • A minimum of a B.S degree with 1-2 years of experience in a relevant field (e.g. protein sciences, chemical or bioengineering, biochemistry or similar) with additional training being desirable. • Experience with cell culture, aseptic techniques, and protein/antibody production workflows and their inherent data management. • Strong problem solving and communication skills. • Ability to multitask, time management, and prioritize activities. Preferred/Nice to have experience and skills: • Experience with operating TECAN and/or other liquid handling platforms. • Experience working with transient expression systems (HEK/CHO). • Experience with programming languages such as Python. Key skills/must haves: • Cell culture experience • Aseptic techniques • Research tech experience • Lab experience with in academia or industry Notes: • 6 months assignment with possibility of extension. • 100% onsite-lab based role.
