Job Description:
Scientist-Neuroscience: The Neuroscience team is seeking a motivated and technically skilled in-vitro scientist with established immunohistochemistry expertise in Neuroscience to join our Boston-based Exploratory Discovery team.
Candidates will be able to work independently but will also be expected to proactively collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
Primary responsibilities include execution of immunohistochemistry and histology experiments to support the identification and validation of novel targets to treat CNS diseases including neurodegenerative diseases.
The candidate will be an active participant in the positive and critical scientific dialogue that is necessary to progress our programs.
The responsibilities of the Neuroscience team member include:
• Cryostat and microtome sectioning
• Develop and execute disease relevant immunohistochemistry assays and perform quantitative image analysis
• Contribute to the characterization and validation of experimental therapeutics activity.
• Communicate data clearly and concisely to the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
• Be able to thrive in a team environment.
Qualifications:
BS/BA degree with a 3+ years of industry or academia experience. Strong general knowledge of methods in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization and method optimization and troubleshooting Proven experience in image acquisition and strong microscopy skills and strong working knowledge of mouse and human neuroanatomy Ability to work independently on data analysis including a practical knowledge of statistics. Tissue embedding, microtome and cryostat sectioning. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with automated immunostainers (e.g. Ventana) • Demonstrated experience with quantitative image analysis (e.g. ImageJ, Indica labs HALO).
