Job Description

Bench Scientist / Biologist Contractor
We are searching for a talented Scientist, Biologist on a contract basis to help support early and late stage pipeline projects leveraging novel covalent drugs.  You will be developing, optimizing and executing key assays across a range of detection platforms to support on-going projects.  You will also be instrumental in supporting the advancement of drug candidates through early-stage discovery biology, lead candidate selection and characterization efforts.  You will be responsible for generating key sets of data with which to help advance drug candidates in preclinical and clinical development. 
How you will contribute:
    • Develop, optimize and execute cell based functional assays (e.g. signaling, receptor occupancy, reporter, proliferation, etc) in relevant in vitro or ex vivo cellular models with a view towards robust, high-quality data
    • Maintain cell lines in culture and process PBMC isolations from whole blood with meticulous sterile technique
    • Implement best practices (automation, workflow efficiencies, organization of sample storage and tracking systems) and new technologies to enhance efficiency and capabilities
    • Analyze and interpret results, capture experimental details in electronic notebooks and present at internal meetings
    • Deliver decision enabling data in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team
    • Think critically about experimental design, outcomes, and issues; flag challenges in a timely manner and pro-actively execute on mitigation plans

What you will bring:
    • A Masters or PhD in Cell Biology or Biochemistry with at least 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience in an industry drug discovery setting
    • Competency in cell based assay development and troubleshooting across a variety of assay types and detection platforms (e.g. ELISA, SDS-PAGE/Western, Jess, reporter assays, phospho-signaling on MSD, Cell titer Glo, TR-FRET, nano-BRET)
    • Familiarity with data analysis, curve fitting, and visualization tools is desired (Excel, GraphPad Prism) along with the ability to present results in a clear and concise manner
    • Highly organized with thorough record-keeping, problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills
    • In this lab-based position, you will have an appreciation and respect for laboratory operation, cleanliness, safety and good lab citizenship
    • You will have experience in pro-actively planning and managing assay workflows; including organizing time, materials and resources to execute project goals efficiently
    • Your experience will bring a keen technical sense of assay design and data analysis along with the ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives
