Target PR Range: 28-34/hr

Our location in (Lake County), IL currently has an opportunity for a Scientist in Biologics Process Design Propagation group; primary function of this position will be prokaryotic fermentation process development.

What You’ll Do  
•    Support project scientists by conducting experiments leading to the development and implementation of new or improved prokaryotic propagation processes producing native or recombinant proteins.  
•    Support the project lead helping to execute project plans and accomplishing established milestones.  
•    Evaluate and summarize data using analytical methodologies, interpreting results, drawing conclusions and recommending options for future experiments to achieve project goals.  
•    Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.  
•    Present scientific observations at internal technology reviews and to the broader scientific community at national meetings or through publication when appropriate.  
•    Identify technical alternatives from literature review.
•    Familiar with lab environment & safety practices
•    Apply basic computer skills. (Includes word processing, spreadsheets, instrumentation related & network systems.).
•    Apply technical writing skills to produce reports & documents.
•    Utilize numerous analytical instruments.
•    Recognize & resolve technical problems.
 
Education And Experience You’ll Bring  
•    BS/MS degree with additional progressive research experience (preferred)
o    Formal training in one of the following main fields of study; Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Molecular, Cellular & Development Biology, Cellular Physiology or Molecular Biology strongly preferred.
•    Experience and demonstrated understanding of microbial cell physiology and metabolic pathways strongly preferred.
•    Prokaryotic experience should include demonstrated expertise at the shake-flask, 1-L and 10-L fermentation scales, preferred.  
•    Experience with Steam-in-place equipment and or single-use is beneficial (not required).
•    Candidate should have experience in fermentation process development and optimization for enhanced target molecule expression preferred.  
•    Knowledge of statistical data analysis and programing automated systems is a plus.
•    Experience presenting results of projects both internally & externally; present complex technical data to large and diverse groups is beneficial.
•    Familiar with project planning, process updates, & experimental design Prepares & align impact goals with department goals required.
