Job Description


Target PR: 50-54/hr
Performs complex research lab assignments independently. Contributes to experimental design.
  • Maintain and prepare cultured cells for experimental analysis, including primary cells, iPSCs, and/or iPSC-derived cell types
  • Perform phenotypic characterization analysis: flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, ELISA, cell-based assays, and gene expression
  • Perform and troubleshoot in vitro assays with multiple immune cell types
  • Independently conducts complex experiments within a project scope, exercising judgement to evaluate a variety of technical factors, and obtain optimum solutions
  • Independently provides work group with technical guidance and problem resolution related to methods, procedures and processes
  • Utilizes assigned literature to increase knowledge base and implement improvements
  • Expected to organize time and plan specifics of project related work with oversight from manager or project representative
  • Prepares and presents technical information at department meetings
  • Troubleshoots non-routine methods, instrumentation, or software issues and recommends systems, processes, or changes within project scope to meet objectives.
  • Experimental design for flow cytometry, qPCR, immunofluorescence, functional assays
  • Culture and differentiation of human cell types, including iPSCs and iPSC-derived cells
BACKGROUND: 
  • Hands-on experience with flow cytometry analysis of immune cell populations
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture of primary and/or immortalized cell lines
  • Experience with RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, ELISA, and common in vitro cellular analysis methods
  • Experience with immunology and immune cell culture
  • Ability to troubleshoot cellular activity assays
  • Ability to use common software packages to analyze data sets (e.g. GraphPad Prism, Excel, FlowJo)
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of currently assigned research methods
  • Understands why a series of experiments is selected
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of science/technology outside specific discipline
  • Recognizes problems and considers the significance of irregularities
  • MS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent)
  • BS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 2+ years experience
  • Associates degree in scientific discipline with 4+ years relevant industry experience
