Senior Research Associate, Discovery Research

Seeking a curious, driven, and self-motivated Senior Research Associate, Discovery Research. The successful candidate will report to a Principal Scientist of Discovery Research and provide laboratory support for research experiments across multiple therapeutic programs. Responsibilities will include performing protein binding ELISAs, protein expression and folding, general protein biochemistry assays and support with phage display campaigns.


Responsibilities:
  • Independently conduct protein binding assays (ELISAs) to achieve high reproducibility, perform basic assay development and optimize protocols.
  • Perform basic molecular biology assays along with E coli-based protein expression and folding
  • Prepare proteins for assays, including dye conjugation, SDS-PAGE analysis, and buffer exchanging.
  • Work closely with Research Scientists to help carry out phage screening campaigns against therapeutic targets, including phage library production, and phage screening.
  • Help with lab operations including ordering supplies, making media and buffers, and basic instrument maintenance
 
Qualifications:
  • BS, MS, or equivalent degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field with 5 years research experience in protein biochemistry, assay development, or field related to drug discovery
  • Direct hands-on skills related to measuring protein-protein interactions, familiar with protein biochemistry techniques related to expression and folding, protein conjugation/labeling and molecular biology troubleshooting skills
  • Exposure to methods in phage display, protein engineering or directed evolution techniques a plus but not required
  • Capacity to work on multiple projects in parallel and adhere to project timelines in a start-up environment
  • Ability to carry out experiments collaboratively and with minimal oversight, as well as independently perform data analysis for communicating results
  • Great organizational, record keeping, and communication skills; ability to communicate data clearly in a group setting
  • Proficiency with data analysis software (Excel, GraphPad Prism or other graphing programs)
  • Strong team player, self-motivated, sense of humility, curiosity, persistence, big hearted
