Job Description
- Develop computational pipelines, databases, and user interfaces to track and manage data for Tornado’s gene editing programs
- Demonstrate competence as a full stack developer willing to own comprehensive solutions to user and company requirements Â
- Integrate standard bioinformatics and laboratory information management (LIMS) tools when appropriate and build custom software solutions when necessary Â
- Support configuration and maintenance of local and cloud IT infrastructure, including dedicated production and development software environments Â
- Support end users across a spectrum of computational abilities, from bioinformatics scientists to colleagues without any scripting or computational experience
- Be an effective leader and translator when discussing software with colleagues from diverse scientific backgrounds
- Remain focused on the creation of viable therapeutic products that change the lives of patients
Requirements:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
- Five years’ experience developing software solutions in an industry setting
- Two years’ experience building software to support scientific applications, preferably in biotech
- Demonstrated experience with Python, JavaScript, Linux, SQL, R, and related software components
- A solid understanding of data science best practices and tools, including NumPy, SciPy, and related
- Experience developing software requirements through an agile process of assessing end user needs and prototyping   Â
Preferred Qualifications:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Experience developing computational pipelines for genomic applications
- Experience with NGS sequencing, long read sequencing, RNA-Seq, and related assays
- Exposure to LIMS development and configuration in a biotechnology setting Â
