POSITION Summary:
This company is a leader in the medical device industry with a wide range of devices and therapies. Almost all medical devices are sealed in packaging, that allows for sterilization, maintains sterility over long shelf-life periods and under various shipping conditions.
This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on developing novel packaging designs for a broad range of products. The primary approach is a combination of computational and experimental modeling to develop methods to predict reliability.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, executes, and analyzes experiments to characterize the behavior of polymers and adhesives
- Determine experimental methods to verify and validate computational models of the performance of packaging in drop and vibration mechanical tests and accelerated aging tests
- Communicate results and strategies via detailed technical plans, reports, documents, and presentations
- Participate in the analysis of technical issues and the devleopment of recommendations for project decisions and actions
- Collaborate with a multi-functional team involving mechanical, materials, packaging, manufacturing engineering as well as materials and manufacturing suppliers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
The Basic Qualifications must be evident on the resume.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical, polymer engineering or related discipline
- Experience creating computational models in an industrial setting for a minimum of 1 year
- Experience with static and impact tests or vibration tests
- Experience characterizing polymer properties, changes over time, peel strength of adhesives
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An advanced degree in applied mechanics, mechanical or chemical engineering, materials or polymer science or related discipline
- Experience with digital image correlation or other strain mapping methods and their application to compression and drop tests
- Experience with influence of humidity, time and high temperature on changes to polymer material properties
- Experience designing drop, impact and vibration tests of products or components
- Experience with verification and validation in an industrial setting for regulatory submission
- Experience with using experimental measurements for verifying computational models using commercial software packages
