Job Title:  Senior Product Engineer                       

Make a significant impact in Enabling Technologies as a team member of the CSF Management team. This position will support both R&D and Design Quality functions.

As a Senior Product Engineer, you are a member of the ET Hardware organization with responsibilities spanning the design, development, and implementation of products for the treatment of hydrocephalus and other neurologic disorders.  The role of the Senior Product Engineer requires strong technical and leadership skills and will apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in working on difficult technical problems. This position may provide guidance or mentorship to lower-level personnel. The Senior Product Engineer will play a key technical leadership role in development projects from concept through commercialization and may act as a technical lead for these programs.

A Day in the Life
  • Provides engineering support and technical leadership for new product design and development, existing product modifications, and/or process design, development and improvement, and performance evaluation.
  • Partner with Systems Engineering, external thought leaders, and internal advisors in the development of device requirements.
  • Drive risk management deliverables by facilitating and generating design and process failure modes effects analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA) and Hazard Analysis.
  • Utilize risk management and robust design principles to lead development and identification of essential design outputs / critical to quality (CTQ) attributes.
  • Apply basic Design Verification/Validation methods & principles for developing reliability test strategies.
  • Participates and collaborates with test engineers in the development, modification and design review of Protocols, Data Summaries & Record
  • Apply statistical techniques or data analysis such as hypothesis testing, confidence and tolerance intervals, regression, capability analysis, DOEs, etc., to make informed decisions and for test method validations, design characterizations and verifications, process validation, reliability demonstration activities, and more.
  • Coordinate quality decisions between different quality and engineering groups.
  • Navigate & facilitate project teams with respect to company processes and procedures ensuring the delivery of safe and effective products.
  • Interact at all levels throughout the company and with consultants and customers.
  • Provide high-level technical input supporting audits and submissions to regulatory bodies and governmental agencies.
  • Lead CAPA projects and assist in post market analysis.
  • Evaluate designs for short- and long-term performance and reliability.
  • Create product performance, design, and process specifications.
  • Review and approve engineering change orders for design, materials, and process documentation.
  • Play a hands-on role in design transfer planning and ensure development projects transition to manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure all activities follow the company Code of Conduct and all Quality System Requirements.

Must Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technically related field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have
  • Medical device industry experience
  • Understanding and application of project management principles, concepts, practices and standards
  • Experience supporting, coordinating and / or leading projects
  • Experience in product realization and design engineering/Quality
  • Proficient in the use of PTC-Creo or SolidWorks
  • Advanced engineering statistical data analysis using Minitab, Six Sigma, A3/Fishbone/DRM, etc.
  • Knowledge in the design of molded components
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage difficult projects
  • Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems in creative and effective ways
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to effectively develop and present difficult technical information necessary for the company
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills
  • Proficient with personal computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical programs; computer aided drawing and project scheduling software preferred
  • Demonstrated strong understanding and application of Quality System requirements, including FDA GMPs, and ISO 9000 and documentation procedures; ability to learn MPSM systems quickly
