Translational Research Scientist - I (Assistant)

Job Description
 • The Translational Medicine, Associate Scientist II will be a member of the DMPK function providing expertise as a key component of the multi-disciplinary drug discovery effort in MRL South San Francisco, with a focus on supporting preclinical development of next generation biologics, antibody drug conjugates (ADC), and small molecule using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) technologies.
• The scientist will contribute to the biotransformation investigation of next gen biologics and Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).
• The candidate will also contribute to small molecule bioanalysis of in vivo PK samples.
• Ideal candidate is expected to support the in vitro and in vivo biotransformation study via sample preparation and LC-MS analysis, support the bioanalysis of small molecule in PK study, and supervise LC-MS lab operations including lab housekeeping, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
• Ph.D. with 0-2 years in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, biochemical engineering or a related discipline.
• MS/BS Degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Required Experience and Skills
• Experience with LC-MS technologies.
• Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting HPLC and mass spectrometers
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in protein/peptide identification, quantitation and characterization using mass spectrometers.
• Highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented individual with excellent communication skills.
• An excellent team player that can closely collaborate with internal and external collaborators
• The successful candidate should be an experienced scientist with knowledge and hands on experience in quantitative/qualitative mass spec analysis of protein/peptide and/or small molecule entities.
• The candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and have excellent scientific, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Hands on experience with bioanalytical technologies a plus.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
• Previous experience in automation instruments such as Assaymap and Hamilton is a plus.
• Previous experience with Watson LIMS, Sciex Triple Quads and MultiQuant is a plus but not required.
• Previous experience in drug discovery and development is a plus but not required.
• High learning agility and a willingness to contribute to all levels within the DMPK group.
• Comfortable with risk taking and undertaking hypothesis-driven experimentation.
