Summary
  • The Principal Engineer is to display standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input.
  • The Principal Engineer is to Plan, schedule and lead project assignments in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with minimal guidance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities. The incumbent will perform other duties as assigned. 1. With minimal guidance, the principal engineer schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups. 2. The principal R&D engineer devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles. 3. The principal R&D engineer is able to prioritize multiple tasks. 4. The principal R&D engineer supervises / coordinates a Snr Engineer / Engineer and / or coordinator on assigned work. 5. The Principal R&D Engineer shall ensure that the right choices are being made with regards to material choice, overall set design and supplier selection within the  operation. 6. The Principal R&D Engineer shall be knowledgeable of various manufacturing processes such as: assembly, extrusion and moulding. 7. The Principal R&D Engineer shall work towards meeting the intended use of the product in the various countries of sales, as applicable to the project s/he is leading. 8. The Principal R&D Engineer shall work towards developing/sustaining a product in accordance with the defined Quality and Regulatory standards. 9. The Principal R&D Engineer shall be responsible for finalizing any reports/presentations related to his projects and any other necessary reports as the need arises. 10. The Principal R&D Engineer will also be responsible for the assignment of project activities within his/her project team, to meet committed milestones and project objectives. 11. Design Verification and Validation are to be carried out in accordance with ISO Standards, CE Norms, FDA, country specific norms and the Quality Manual. 12. Design Verification Testing is to be planned/executed based upon knowledge of materials, fluid dynamics and correct usage/applicability of available equipment. 13. The principal engineer should be able to work with the Project Management Office (PMO), to plan out resources, budget, timelines throughout the project development lifecycle. 14. The principal engineer should be able to present the work achieved by his/her team to different stakeholders (as applicable) 15. The principal engineer should design with manufacturability in mind; leading his/her team through various development activities that would eventually allow a smooth design transfer to manufacturing. Tech-Lead Role: Tech-lead is responsible for driving and overseeing the technical aspects of projects, varying from sustaining activity to a new product development. They lead the planning, resource allocation, and execution of technical tasks, collaborating with team members, Product Design Owner (PDO) and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

PDO Role: The Product Design Owner (PDO) is responsible for the oversight of ongoing changes to the product, assessing their impact on the final product code, and ensuring necessary actions are taken to maintain product quality and safety for customers. Additionally, the PDO plays a crucial role in creating and supporting product designs and upgrading of the product portfolio that align with the ever-evolving needs and preferences of consumers.

PRMO Role: The Product Risk Management Owner (PRMO) is responsible for minimizing risks associated with the product by implementing effective mitigation strategies and maintaining comprehensive risk documentation. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safety of the product throughout its lifecycle by identifying potential risks and proactively addressing them through well-defined mitigation measures.
