Our client, a leading Medical Device company, are seeking an XR Unity Developer to join them on a long-term initial contract until April 2025, working full-time. This position will support the team on XR technologies / projects and the translation of 2D storyboards into 3D interactive prototypes in Unity.
The role
- Translate 2D storyboards into 3D interactive prototypes in Unity.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, modelers and look dev artists to ensure Unity prototypes meet functional, visual, and quality requirements.
- Ensure prototypes are developed using our code best practices for easy integration into the production codebase.
- Develop clean, concise code with a focus on code re-use.
- Rapidly prototype key feature variants to test with users.
- Iterate over prototypes based on feedback from users and stakeholders.
- Develop visual effects using shaders working closely with the asset team to ensure materials and textures are rendered correctly.
- Develop new features / content for existing products.
- Take ownership of features including maintenance and updates.
- Develop tools and utilities to support feature development.
- Participate in project meetings, design meetings and support product demonstrations when required.
Must Haves
- Deep knowledge of core Unity API and Unity concepts.
- Excellent understanding of C# programming principles.
- Demonstrable XR experience, you must have made a significant contribution to completed commercial XR projects for multiple platforms.
- Good Understanding of Unity’s render pipelines.
- Demonstrable experience of writing custom shaders.
- Experience of optimizing shaders for VR platforms.
- Experience of animation and working with rigged models in Unity.
- Experience of working in a large cross functional team.
- Experience of developing Unity applications for iOS and Android platforms.
Nice to Haves
- Experience of working in a Research and Development capacity on novel features.
- Understanding of user centred design principles.
- An interest in creative coding / technical art and an eye for design.
