Scientist / Senior Scientist – Cancer Immunotherapy & Cell Therapy
Job Description
Position Overview
Seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in cancer immunotherapy, immune cell biology, and cell therapy development to join our Process Development (PD) / Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) team.
This is a hands-on role focused on advancing both discovery and translational research programs. The successful candidate will design and execute experiments, develop and optimize cell therapy processes, characterize immune cell function, and contribute to the advancement of novel immunotherapy products toward clinical development.
The candidate will work closely with Research, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical teams in a collaborative, fast-paced biotechnology environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot cell therapy manufacturing and process development workflows to improve product quality, consistency, and scalability.
* Perform hands-on laboratory work including immune cell isolation, engineering, expansion, characterization.
* Design and execute multiparameter flow cytometry assays for immune phenotyping and functional characterization.
* Perform and interpret immunological assays including ELISA, multiplex cytokine analysis, cytotoxicity assays, mixed lymphocyte reactions (MLR), proliferation assays, and related cell-based functional assays.
* Support translational research activities, biomarker development, IND-enabling studies, and technology transfer initiatives.
* Collaborate with Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical teams to advance programs from discovery through clinical development.
* Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and generate technical reports, presentations, study summaries, and supporting documentation.
* Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with applicable quality and documentation standards.
* Monitor emerging scientific developments and contribute innovative ideas to advance immunotherapy pipeline.
Required Qualifications
* M.S. or Ph.D. in Immunology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.
* * Strong experience in cell therapy process development, upstream/downstream manufacturing, and GMP process support.
* * Experience with cell culture, expansion, closed-system processing, process optimization, and scale-up.
* * Experience with process analytics, flow cytometry, potency assays, and statistical data analysis.
* * Experience supporting technology transfer, validation, MSAT, or commercial manufacturing is highly desirable.
* Strong scientific problem-solving, experimental design, data analysis, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Industry experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, cell therapy, or immunotherapy organizations.
* Experience with T-cell, NK-cell, macrophage, dendritic cell, or other immune cell-based therapeutic platforms.
* Experience supporting translational research, IND-enabling studies, or preclinical development programs.
* Familiarity with cell therapy process development, technology transfer, and manufacturing workflows.
* Knowledge of GLP and/or GMP environments and associated documentation practices.
* Experience with assay development, biomarker evaluation, and translational immunology.
* Experience authoring technical reports, study protocols, regulatory support documents, or scientific publications.
Leveling Guidelines
Scientist
* Ph.D. with 0-3 years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience, or
* M.S. with 4-6 years of relevant industry experience.
Salary Range: $110,000-$145,000
*depending on exp
