Senior Accountant
Job Description
Target PR Range: 68-78/hr DOE
Senior Accountant
Summary: The Senior Accountant will participate in the recording and analysis of daily operational accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, SOX and external audits. This person will also be responsible for the monthly closing of accounts and preparation of work papers to support the financial statements. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the accounting team in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.
Responsibilities:
1. General ledger accounting for various balance sheet areas in including accruals, prepaids, accounts receivable, cash, lease accounting and others as needed. Areas of accounting responsibility will include IT, Facilities, Commercial, Medical Affairs, and H.R.
2. Participate in general accounting tasks including contract review, recording of journal entries, allocations, GAAP reclassifications, reconciliations and analysis as needed.
3. Key contributor to financial close process. Adhere to defined close schedule. Produce work papers and audit requests within assigned time frames.
4. Responsible for SOX compliance for direct areas of responsibility and support overall SOX compliance. This includes evaluation, development, implementation, execution, and monitoring of controls and systems.
5. Support the external auditors for timely quarterly reviews and integrated year-end audits. Provide required information and ensure proper documentation is maintained for historical purposes.
6. Develop, maintain and update internal control documentation including process narratives and control matrices. Support internal controls testing.
7. Research and document appropriate FASB ASC accounting treatment as matters arise.
8. Make and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures
9. Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
1. BS or BA in Accounting
2. CPA and/or public audit experience a plus
3. Experience in Oracle R12 strongly desired
4. Experience with contract review and analysis of related transactional impacts
5. Demonstrate proficiency with Oracle EBS and proactively work to improve the interaction with all financial systems
6. Work in a precise and efficient manner. Execute assigned tasks within agreed upon deadlines.
7. Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment a plus
