Job Description - Director, Finance Transformation – ERP Implementation
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Assistant Controller will serve as a key representative of the Finance and Accounting team during the implementation of NetSuite ERP.
This individual will provide critical support by ensuring the accounting and finance requirements are accurately captured, validated and integrated into the system design.
Acting as a subject matter expert, this role will safeguard compliance with GAAP and SOX, support process automation initiatives, and ensure the ERP implementation strengthens financial reporting and internal controls.
This role requires a strategic thinker with deep accounting expertise, strong public company experience in biotech/pharmaceuticals/life sciences, and a proven track record of ERP transformation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These may include, but are not limited to:
- Represent Finance and Accounting requirements during NetSuite implementation activities.
- Provide input on system design for general ledger, accounts payable, reporting, and compliance processes.
- Support data migration efforts by validating accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Participate in testing and user acceptance activities to ensure financial workflows function correctly.
- Assist in documenting finance-related processes and controls within NetSuite.
- Ensure NetSuite configuration supports GAAP, SOX, and internal control requirements.
- Collaborate with third-party SOX providers, auditors and internal stakeholders to validate financial system compliance and appropriate ITGCs.
- Identify risks and provide recommendations for strengthening financial controls.
- Support the identification of opportunities to streamline manual accounting processes through NetSuite functionality.
- Provide input on automation initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure adoption and effective use of the system.
- Act as a resource for Finance and Accounting team members during transition to NetSuite.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in an accredited accounting program with at least 15 years progressive accounting experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Public company experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences required.
- Hands-on experience supporting NetSuite ERP implementations from an Accounting and Finance lens.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting and SOX compliance.
- Demonstrated success in driving process automation and improvements in Accounting and Finance operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
- CPA license preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, be at a desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer the telephone and type on a computer. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Pay Rate Range: $80-120/hr depending on experience
