· Design and Development: Work on the design, development, and testing of medical devices (i.e. implantable neurostimulators), ensuring they meet all specifications and regulatory standards.
· Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Coordinate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and production.
· Product Testing and Verification: Conduct thorough testing and verification to ensure the device meets product requirements.
What products (if any) will this role support?
This role will likely support projects related to implantable neurostimulators, external neurostimulators, and/or associated patient/clinician instruments.
What is your target years of experience?
Ideally, the candidate will have at least 2-5 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree. We need this person to be able to step in and be productive relatively quickly.

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will be a key contributor in the research, design, and development of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. This role involves supporting projects (Implantable Neurostimulators, External Neurostimulators and/or Patient Therapy Remotes) from conception to implementation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, product requirements and best practices.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
· Design and Development: Plan, design, develop, and verify mechanical and electromechanical systems such as implantable neurostimulators, external neurostimulators, and patient therapy remotes, ensuring these products achieve high standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
· Project Management: Manage projects from initial concept through to full-scale manufacturing, ensuring all deliverables meet product requirements, technical specifications, timelines, and budget constraints
· Innovation and Improvement: Recommend and implement options or approaches to enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of systems, processes, and facilities.
· Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical and systems engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.
· Problem Solving: Analyze complex engineering problems, providing in-depth analysis and innovative solutions to improve processes and products.
· Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate and refine designs. This role will also be responsible for design characterization and design verification protocols, analysis and reports. This role could also include aspects of test equipment qualification and test method validation.
· Documentation and Compliance: Prepare detailed engineering documentation and ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and department best practices.
· Communication and Influence: Communicate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must Have
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree
- Component/Product design (drawings, tolerancing, Bill of Materials)
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent technical writing skills including test protocols and test reports
- Experience in test method development, execution and data analysis
- General experience with Mechanical Engineering
Nice To Have
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for part and assembly drawings, with the ability to interpret and apply ASME Y14.5 standards
- Concept generation and selection
- Demonstrated ability to conduct design failure mode effects analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience in verification testing, including test planning, execution, data acquisition, data analysis and documentation.
- Experience performing statistical analysis using Mintab or similar
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and materials selection for medical applications
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Relevant experience in Medical Device Industry
