Job Description

Sr. Electrical Project Engineer

The Opportunity

Planet Pharma is partnering with a large-scale pharmaceutical capital program in Lebanon, IN to identify a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer. This is an owner’s representative role on a greenfield API manufacturing facility currently in detailed design and early construction. This is not a design role, the right candidate is a leader and program manager first, with the electrical and systems knowledge to manage scope, guide junior engineers, and drive execution from the owner’s side.

Engagement Details

  • Location: Lebanon, Indiana – 100% On-Site
  • Duration: 12+ months
  • Schedule: Full-time, on-site
  • Start Date: ASAP – Most likely late August
  • Rate: $115-120/hr 1099 | $95-100/hr W2

What Makes This Role Different

This role is for a leader, not a designer. The client already has engineering resources doing the technical work. What they need is someone who can manage the electrical scope end-to-end –  understanding systems at a high level, holding vendors and contractors accountable, developing junior engineers, and keeping the program on schedule and on budget from the owner’s side. If you thrive in the field, love driving execution, and can translate complex electrical systems into clear project outcomes, this is your role.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as Owner’s Representative for all electrical scope on a large-scale GMP pharmaceutical capital program
  • Manage and mentor junior project engineers — develop their skills and keep their work on track
  • Understand and oversee electrical and E&I systems scope without being the designer — manage the scope, not the drawings
  • Interface with EPCM partners, contractors, and vendors to drive execution and accountability
  • Track electrical scope progress, identify risks early, and drive resolution
  • Coordinate with other discipline leads — mechanical, automation, utilities, and C&Q — to ensure system integration
  • Participate in construction walkthroughs, progress meetings, and schedule reviews
  • Support turnover documentation and handoff to commissioning and qualification teams
  • Report progress and issues clearly to program leadership

What We’re Looking For

  • 10-15+ years of experience in electrical project engineering or project management on large-scale industrial or pharmaceutical capital programs
  • Strong owner’s representative experience — you’ve sat on the owner’s side and protected their interests
  • Proven ability to manage and develop junior engineers — you’re a leader and a coach
  • Deep understanding of electrical and E&I systems including high-voltage power distribution, lighting, controls, and automation — you don’t need to design them, but you need to own the scope
  • Familiarity with electrical system inspection, testing, and commissioning processes
  • Experience working in GMP or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Strong communication skills — comfortable presenting to program leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced capital execution environment
  • OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start)

Nice to Have

  • Experience on large-scale greenfield pharmaceutical, biotech, or API manufacturing facility builds
  • Familiarity with EPCM-led delivery models and owner’s team governance structures
  • Background working alongside automation, utilities, and C&Q teams during construction and commissioning
  • PE License
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
