Job Description

Summary: Within the Manufacturing Platforms Development team in Operations Innovation, we deploy advanced project management methodologies to ensure the robust planning and execution of new manufacturing platforms and continuous improvement initiatives. As a Principal Business Process Project Management Specialist, you will drive technical execution across multiple engineering teams by managing and executing manufacturing technology programs. This role is focused on driving consistent execution, maintaining operational PMO processes, and ensuring visibility across multiple active projects/programs. Success in this role requires strong project management expertise combined with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, requirements, and cross-functional dependencies.

You will coordinate the design, integration, and validation of new platform technologies specifically automation, machine vision, and computer vision systems ensuring projects/programs move efficiently from concept through implementation. Your leadership will be critical in delivering innovative manufacturing technology that enables the company to achieve its 5-year strategic goals and strengthen our ability to bring life-saving products to patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Project Execution & Oversight 

  • Manage multiple concurrent clinical projects from initiation through completion
  • Own project scope, schedule, and execution across assigned initiatives
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and dependencies using tools such as Smartsheet
  • Track progress, identify risks, and ensure alignment to study milestones and deliverables
  • Ensure consistent execution of established PMO processes and clinical project standards Operational Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operational aspects of assigned projects
  • Serve as liaison between clinical teams, functional partners, and leadership
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders and ensure timely issue resolution
  • Support resource coordination and workload visibility across projects Reporting & Visibility
  • Maintain project dashboards, status reporting, and portfolio tracking
  • Provide clear, consistent updates on project health (timeline, milestones, risks)
  • Deliver updates to stakeholders and leadership to support decision-making
  • Ensure data accuracy and transparency across reporting tools Risk Management & Problem Solving
  • Proactively identify project risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Lead mitigation planning and drive resolution across cross-functional teams
  • Escalate issues as appropriate and ensure timely follow-through Process Adherence & Continuous Improvement
  • Apply established PMO methodologies, tools, and clinical workflows
  • Identify opportunities for incremental process improvements
  • Support adoption and consistent use of standard tools and practices Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate work across cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
  • Influence stakeholders without direct authority to drive project outcomes
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to less experienced team members as needed
  • Need strong cross-functional stakeholder engagement skills

A Day in the Life 

  • Represent the Platform Development Portfolio as the primary PMO representative on project teams. Will be responsible for 2 or more programs.
  •  Build comprehensive cross-functional project schedules and understand the overall dependency and environmental factors
  • Lead core PM activities: planning, tracking, risk management, and formal communications.
  • Implement best-practice tools and techniques in partnership with the Business Process PMO Senior Manager and other portfolio Leads.
  • Monitor performance and provide regular status updates to key sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Manage changing priorities through effective schedule management and change-agent leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO to drive organizational maturity.

Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering project/program management experience (or 3+ years with an advanced degree). Experience managing multiple complex, cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical projects from concept through implementation within a manufacturing or technology development environment.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.

Nice to Haves 

  • Strong ownership of project delivery across scope, schedule, risks, and execution for multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Experience managing complex, cross functional projects in a regulated or medical device environment, including familiarity with the clinical study lifecycle
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Expertise in MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or Confluence or similar), including detailed project planning, dependency management, and tracking
  • Demonstrated strength in risk identification, mitigation, and issue resolution, with the ability to escalate effectively
  • Experience with portfolio level reporting, dashboards, and executive ready status updates within a PMO or structured delivery environment
  • PMP certification (or equivalent experience) and ability to influence, communicate with stakeholders, and mentor junior team members
