Portfolio Project Manager, Lab of the Future

Role Summary
The Portfolio Project Manager, Lab of the Future provides enterprise-level oversight of programs and projects managed within the Lab of the Future team. This role drives portfolio prioritization, delivery transparency, and governance discipline across a complex set of strategic initiatives.
The position partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align objectives, monitor progress against milestones, and proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies. The role ensures leadership has clear, timely reporting to support decision-making, resource allocation, and delivery confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end portfolio of programs and projects within the Lab of the Future team.
- Lead portfolio prioritization discussions to align initiatives with business strategy, capacity, and value realization.
- Maintain integrated plans, milestone trackers, and status reporting across active workstreams.
- Track progress against commitments, identify slippage early, and drive corrective action with project leads.
- Manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies; ensure timely escalation and resolution.
- Establish and support governance forums, including agendas, decision logs, action tracking, and follow-up discipline.
- Produce concise, executive-ready reporting for leadership, steering committees, and key stakeholders.
- Partner with functional leaders, project owners, and SMEs to ensure alignment on scope, timing, and interdependencies.
- Support capacity planning and resource coordination across the portfolio as priorities evolve.
- Promote consistent delivery practices, document control, and portfolio operating cadence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Operations, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in project or portfolio management within a complex, cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives with competing priorities.
- Strong understanding of governance, RAID management, milestone tracking, and executive reporting.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive accountability without direct authority.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting research, laboratory, technology, or innovation-focused programs.
- PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or comparable project management certification.
- Experience designing portfolio governance frameworks and operating rhythms.
- Familiarity with enterprise PMO practices and portfolio prioritization methodologies.
- Experience working in regulated, matrixed, or highly collaborative enterprise environments.

- Portfolio execution remains aligned to strategic objectives, milestones, and expected business value.
