Research Associate, Sample Management

The Opportunity:

Seeking a motivated individual with a scientific background to support Compound Management in the Discovery Chemistry department.  This position will be responsible for maintaining the compound inventory, implementing compound management workflows using lab automation, and fulfilling compound requests.  The Temporary Research Associate will also perform quality control to maintain compound accuracy.

As a member of the Compound Management Team, you will:

  • Manage and process compound requests for shipment and distribution using Mosaic platform.

  • Receive and process compound samples from internal and external sources to be added to the inventory, including proper labeling, sorting, and storage.

  • Assay plating using automated liquid handlers (TECAN and Echo).

  • Develop Echo protocols to support growing diversity and complexity of experiments.

  • Maintain the Compound Management lab space.

  • Utilize analytical instruments such as HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, etc.

  • Communicate effectively within cross functional project teams

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • BS or BA in scientific discipline.

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.

  • Proficient with compound sample preparation using automated liquid handlers (Echo and TECAN).

  • Good record keeping, detail oriented and well organized.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound technically driven decision-making ability.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • An innovative team-player with capacity to be effective in a dynamic and fast-paced company environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with sample management informatics platform (Mosaic) a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with Beckman Access Laboratory Workstation and protocol development a plus.

  • Previous experience with analytical instruments a plus.

  • Experience with lab orchestration and scheduling a plus.
