Contract Scientist, Antibody Discovery
Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist Consultant with background in molecular biology and protein biochemistry to join our Protein Engineering Group. The Scientist Consultant will be responsible for supporting molecular biology efforts and expression/purification of antibodies and proteins. This individual will work closely with members of the Protein Engineering Team to support Large Molecule therapeutic programs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-throughput molecular cloning and DNA purification.
- Execute batch protein expression and purification.
- Execute column chromatography including SEC, CEX, AEX, and HIC.
- Perform biophysical characterizations, Octet, ELISA, cellular bioassays, and FACS screens, as needed.
- Demonstrate collection and thorough analysis of data, and update Electronic Notebook records.
Basic Requirements:
- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, or related field with 0+ years of experience working in an academic or industry laboratory setting. or a BS with 6+ years of industry/academic experience or MS with 2-4 years experience.
- Experience in various molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning and DNA purification.
- Experience purifying proteins using affinity resin.
- Experience in the operation of AKTA FPLCs.
Additional Preferences:
- Experience performing biophysical characterizations, Octet, ELISA, cellular bioassays, and/or FACS screens.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and/or mammalian suspension expression systems.
- Experience with operation and troubleshooting of fiber and column chromatography such as ProA, SEC, CEX, AEX, and/or HIC.
- Highly motivated, fast learner with strong organization skills to effectively present data and summary of results, and ability to solve problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
