Job Description
This position provides imaging support in the form of daily scan coverage, complex analysis as directed per protocol, image interpretation, and consulting services as needed. The role assists physicians, scientists, study directors, sponsors and staff with continuously identifying opportunities to improve key service functions that will increase or achieve high levels of customer satisfaction, while facilitating the complex multi-and inter-disciplinary care unique to Medtronic PRL. The role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key business units to ensure quality data collection and collaboration. The role is responsible for the daily operation and animal care activities in the imaging specialty he or she has been assigned. The role assists with equipment selection, planning and personnel decisions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform imaging at PRL:
o Operates imaging equipment independently as needed by staff’s specific role such as MRI.
o Perform imaging exams as assigned which may include but not be limited to: cardiac, vascular, brain, and spine.
o Perform basic image analysis such as creating reports with anatomical and functional measurements, assessing images for abnormalities, etc.
o Monitor patient care in the designated imaging department.
o Support animal and human cadaver studies.
o Monitors and controls quality assurance for imaging equipment, if applicable.
o Troubleshoot imaging issues, equipment, and procedure related.
o Continually evaluates and improves the process and procedures used to collect images.
o Work with sponsors to create imaging plans and protocols for execution within a study.
· Serve as an imaging expert within a given modality-MRI:
o Perform complex image analysis and interpretation such as infarct analysis, image reconstruction, etc.
o Trains and advises new employees/contractors to routine imaging protocols and specialized studies.
o Point of contact for billing questions, time availability, and general questions that pertain to imaging equipment.
o Proactively assess upcoming resource needs including staff, equipment, and supplies to ensure customer needs are met and make recommendations to PRL leadership. ed knowledge of procedures, sufficient to inform study directors and sponsors in the event that abnormal results are obtained; ability to recognize and identify symptoms, exercise judgment, and react appropriately in emergency situations.
· Other duties may include:
o Support of PRL’s compliance to radiation regulations.
o Operation of X-ray or fluoroscopy equipment.
o Support of human cadaver programs.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Cares for the animals used in research and development studies. Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records. Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for biosafety and biosecurity of the animals. May partner with preclinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, postop care and monitoring of animal studies.
TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM: Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.
DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor, working under limited supervision, and providing assistance and training to lower level employees. Runs minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, developing reports.
Organizational Impact: Performs technical activities requiring considerable judgment and may have ownership of minor projects. Work consists of technical tasks that are typically not routine.
Innovation and Complexity: Technical problems faced are general, and may require some analysis to understand and resolve. Expected to independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.
Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts . Obtains and provides technical information on matters of moderate importance to the job area.
Leadership and Talent Management: Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires complete and broad knowledge of operational systems, techniques and practices typically gained through extensive experience and/or education. Requires minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.
Pay ranges between 50-60/hr depending on experience
