Location: Remote (Preference for CST or PST candidates)
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Position Summary
We are seeking a Python Backend Developer with 2-3 years of professional experience to join a growing software development team. This role will focus on designing, developing, and supporting backend applications that power critical business functions and customer-facing systems. The ideal candidate will have strong Python development skills, experience building APIs and backend services, and a desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer looking to gain experience supporting production applications and contributing to high-impact projects, including system enhancements and billing-related initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Python.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver new features and system improvements.
- Support billing system enhancements, integrations, and process automation efforts.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement scalable solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities.
- Assist with performance tuning, monitoring, and application support.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python development.
- Experience building backend applications, APIs, or microservices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience working with enterprise applications or business-critical systems.
Target Candidate: A strong junior-to-mid-level backend developer with solid Python fundamentals, API development experience, and the ability to quickly contribute to an existing development team with minimal supervision.
- Candidates with primarily bioinformatics, computational biology, research, data science, or scientific programming backgrounds will not be considered. This is a backend software engineering role requiring hands-on experience developing production applications and backend services using Python.
