Associate Systems Admin
Job Description
Assists in the administration of infrastructure platforms of existing and emerging technologies for compatibility and business alignment within PPD. May be responsible for administration of Data Centers, Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Messaging, Global Operations Management, Citrix, and/or Cloud platforms.
Essential Functions
* Performs Windows Server administration to include install, upgrades, configuration, tuning and monitoring.
* Maintains the data storage system and performs system back-ups.
* Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space.
* Assesses tests, deploys and properly documents all software patches, updates, and new software installations into the PPD IT infrastructure, following all relevant SOP’s, WPD’s and internal processes.
* Manages and maintains system administration tools to include asset inventory, remote access, software license management, server diagnostics and virtualization technology.
* Provides system engineering consulting and application support to other IT groups and projects.
* Provides tier 2 level troubleshooting and support for all PPD infrastructure platforms globally.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
* Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 2 years’) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
* Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Years of experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or making employment selection decisions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Thorough knowledge of two or more technology services (Server – Windows/Linux; Data Centers; Storage; Virtualization; Messaging; Global Operations Management; Citrix; and Cloud platforms)
* Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues on Windows, Linux, and storage platforms
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail
* Analytical and problem solving skills
